Random Memory Wednesday

There's something unnatural about the way most females eat an ice cream cone. My girlfriend can take half an hour to finish off one of these things. Nibble, nibble, nibble....carefully keeping the symmetry down a cone till the very end. For her, an ice cream cone is an experience. For me, and most guys, it's like any other food item. The brain is wired to get it in the body as quick as possible before some other primate comes along and takes it from you.

My little sister use to drive me crazy with this when we were small kids.

We lived in a small town and, every once in awhile, my parents would pile us into the car for a Saturday shopping trip to a city about forty miles or so away. After a mind-numbing day of walking around big stores, trying on clothes, shoes, and other whatnot...we would finally head back home, all of us tired and cranky. My Dad would usually pull into a dairy queen type drive thru on the way back and treat us all to one of those soft-serve ice creams with the papery cones that you're never really convinced are actually edible.

Anyway; I would generally have mine wolfed down before we had left the city limits. Then I would spend the rest of the trip home watching my sister slowly nibble on hers. I think she enjoyed it. Watching me drool as she sloooooowly ate her cone, interspersed with the obligatory sticking out of the tongue for good measure.

Girls never change. I can still see the "nyah, nyah, nah, nah, nyah" in my girlfriend's eyes while she nibbles her cone and I'm sitting there with nothing but a memory of my own.
